the past and present

top <bcbg>, skirt <lauren moffat>, shoes <miu miu>, jewelry <vintage, the limited & cost plus world market>, clutch <target>

this look reminds me of both the past and the present.  the ivory lace skirt and silky, vintage print top seem to speak of past events reminding me of my mother’s wedding dress and some of her own personal items, while the sparkly shoes and modern clutch exude newness and innovation. it seems as though some of these items should have been inherited, although they were more recently purchased.  these slingback pumps are particularly special to me.  being sort of an “investment” piece, i look forward to passing these on to future generations (if i can give them up;)! i love mixing seemingly old and new pieces.

“pear” of shorts

top <zara>, sweater <sparrow>, shorts <daughters of the liberation>, wedges <matisse>, necklace <anthropologie>, bag <gifted>

dresses, shorts and tops with repeated prints are “in,” no doubt.  from prints of bunny rabbits to strawberries, these prints are whimsical, light-hearted and just-plain-fun!  these culottes have a “pear” print: a perfect print for a farmer’s market and/or trip to the grocery store.  paired with a mint green top, wedges, straw bag, and frilly sweater, i’m dreaming of fruits, vegetables and local flavor!

the power of orange and blue

top <fei>, skirt <yoana baraschi>, clutch <banana republic>, shoes <bcbg>, necklaces and ring <vintage and ann taylor>

major 2012 summer trends include bright neon colors and lace proving this is the perfect summer skirt.  this lace skirt, is absolutely lovely, fits perfectly and adds that extra “wow” factor. when “lace” is mentioned, we often envision white, ivory or black lace.  the unexpected neon orange is a pleasant, unexpected surprise.  yoana baraschi has also created a party dress with this material.  it’s a hard-to-find piece as it’s been a popular buy, but you can still find it here.  places to wear this skirt include summer weddings, and, if you find yourself in Oklahoma City, why not a Thunder game?!  with the Thunder bound and determined to win a championship, this look wouldn’t be questioned! this certainly proves the power of the orange and the blue!
