nautical escape

top <maeve>, trousers <level 99>, wedges <l.a.m.b.>, bag <diane von furstenberg>, hat <purchase in mexico>, necklace <anthropologie>, bracelets <anthropologie and gifted>

wearing this look i’d like to find myself at a beautiful resort in the hamptons or palm beach.  this look is lightweight, surprisingly comfortable and perfectly nautical for a seaside venture.  it also creates the perfect silhouette.  peplum tops are the ultimate waist defining top.  i love its simplicity. with its barely-there abstract floral design, it contrasts these leg lengthening, bright pants nicely.  with a wide brimmed hat, having a similar nautical feel, a cocktail by the sea would be quite fitting!

remix

top <fei>, sweater <willow and clay>, shorts <jcrew>, booties <chloe>, bag <antik batik>, jewelry <antique and gifted>

shorts coupled with booties is probably one of my favorite combinations. luckily a “cold” front came through okc:), so i was able to wear these wonderful booties without much of a sweat.  these chloe booties are soft as can be and fit like a glove.  the chunky heel gives just enough support making these heels incredibly comfortable! as with any closet, the ability to remix pieces is a reflection of one’s style and it’s pretty much necessary to remix your daily looks (unless you have the means to shop continuously).  this sweater can be thrown over almost anything (maxi dresses, tanks, long sleeved tops). see how i wore it last here.  with it’s versatility and shiny, metallic fabric (a major fall 2012 trend), this sweater will make an easy transition to fall.

the past and present

top <bcbg>, skirt <lauren moffat>, shoes <miu miu>, jewelry <vintage, the limited & cost plus world market>, clutch <target>

this look reminds me of both the past and the present.  the ivory lace skirt and silky, vintage print top seem to speak of past events reminding me of my mother’s wedding dress and some of her own personal items, while the sparkly shoes and modern clutch exude newness and innovation. it seems as though some of these items should have been inherited, although they were more recently purchased.  these slingback pumps are particularly special to me.  being sort of an “investment” piece, i look forward to passing these on to future generations (if i can give them up;)! i love mixing seemingly old and new pieces.
